Retirement is an exciting time of life; you are finally free of work-related deadlines, and you can start living on your own terms. Many of us plan for retirement, but have you ever wondered how you will spend your days once retired? Last month, we shared 3 tips; here are 3 more!
1. Start writing
You probably enjoy sharing your life experiences. So, why not write them down for yourself and your loved ones? This not only allows you to reflect on your past but also provides a means of preserving your memories for future generations. Furthermore, writing can be a meaningful way to pass time during retirement. If you are struggling to get started, consider taking a writing course.
2. Explore your family history
Creating a family tree can be an emotional and fulfilling journey. As you discover the branches of your family tree, you will find stories, photos and memories of the people who came before you. You will see how their lives were shaped by the world around them, and you may find a deeper connection to your own history. Tracing your family roots may also help you reconnect with long-lost family members or even find relatives you have never met.
3. Join a social club
Joining social clubs can be a terrific way for you to connect with others and stay active in your community. Social clubs, such as Catholic Healthcare’s Mind+Move, can offer a variety of activities and events that cater to different interests and provide opportunities to make new friends and learn new skills. Reach out to your local council, library, or seniors centre to see what types of groups are available.
