Home & Community Services has been busy supporting clients and delivering essential Home Care services during the latest lockdown.
One client, Perry, was delighted with his social support after having had no contact with anyone since the lockdown began. Perry mentioned to Matthew, his Community Worker, that he had been trying to make an appointment to obtain his COVID-19 vaccination for months. Matthew kindly intervened and was able to make an appointment with Perry’s GP for the following day. Perry was so grateful for Matthew’s assistance.
At Waterloo Wellness Centre, the team has been facilitating a program called Connecting with Care to equip clients with the confidence, skills and means to overcome isolation and stay connected using donated iPads. Many of the clients are socially and financially disadvantaged and have few or no supports outside of the Wellness Centre.
Client feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive.
"It will be good to set up Facebook so I can keep in touch with family which I can't visit," says David (pictured top of page).
"I like being able to look through NRL information for the season, especially to see how Parramatta has been performing," says Marie.
