For Angie Simon, a Senior Community Worker in the South East Sydney region, it’s the contact with clients which inspire her.
“I love going to work every day,” says Angie (pictured above). “I’m really passionate about aged care, I love visiting clients and listening to their stories. For me Care Runs Deep is about taking the time to get to know our clients and ensure we help them to remain independent for as long as possible.”
Angie was a teacher for 10 years and after taking some time out to care for her own children she started looking for a new career in care.
“I was looking for a change and wanted a career where I could continue to make a difference. My friend was working in aged care and suggested I apply for a Community Worker role.
“For many of our clients, their Community Worker is sometimes the only person they see or talk to all week. Providing that human connection is so important, as well as taking the time to really listen and engage with clients. Whether we are visiting clients in their home, taking them out for a coffee and a chat or going shopping with them – our care comes from the heart.”
Angie leads a team of Community Workers, supporting them as they visit clients and provide Home Care services.
“Catholic Healthcare is a really good organisation and we help a lot of people. Our Community Workers are kind, caring and love working with our clients. I plan to stay in aged care for a long time.”
