Easter is a time of despair, hope and the triumph of the resurrection and so it seems fitting that we pause and reflect in a similar way on the death of Pope Francis. Pope Francis led our Church by meeting people where they were, in all their messiness, trauma, joy and sorrow.
He led by example, witnessing to the love of Christ by caring for the poor, the marginalised, those forgotten, those in prison and refugees, challenging world leaders and each of us to love each other and our earthly home.
At Catholic Healthcare we are similarly challenged every day to demonstrate that love of Christ to all by living our values, Courage, Compassion and Integrity.
In this time of sorrow, I ask that you join in thanking God for the leadership, witness and love of Pope Francis, and we look forward with hope and trust in the Holy Spirit to provide us with the leadership our Church needs to continue to bring Christ's kingdom to life here on earth.
May Pope Francis rest in Peace and rise in Glory.
