Aged Care Employee Day is being celebrated today - Saturday 7 August 2021. It’s a national day to recognise the more than 360,000 aged care staff around the country caring for over one million older Australians.
The theme is Thanks for Caring and if there has ever been a time to say thank you – then this is it.
That means everyone - nurses, care workers, allied health professionals, hospitality teams, drivers, cleaners, volunteers, lifestyle officers, diversional therapists, administration staff - all of us working in aged care – caring for clients in the community and in residential aged care homes.
“We thank all Catholic Healthcare staff for their dedication, commitment and compassion,” says Belinda Moyes, Interim CEO.
“They are all working hard to make the lives of our residents and clients better - helping them to live life to the full.”
Wendy Lawrence, Lifestyle Manager, Residential Care says; “This year we have sent out gifts including flowers, Koko Black chocolates and packets of Tim Tams for each staff member at our Homes to say thanks. Many of our Homes also organised for coffee carts, BBQ and pizza lunches and other supports such as mindfulness Apps and postcards to provide to their staff.”
