This year has seen many people re-evaluate their personal values, connection to purpose and career path.
Catholic Healthcare employee, Bonnie Ratcliff, has done just that - moving from a marketing role to a new position within Catholic Healthcare’s Home Care team.
Bonnie (pictured) has transitioned from social media, customer insights and advertising to social work, community connection and client care.
“I have always been driven by the desire to work for a purpose driven organisation which is why I joined Catholic Healthcare two years ago,” says Bonnie. “I wanted a role where care runs deep. With my new role as a Community Worker, I am taking that a step further.”
“About a year ago I decided to explore career opportunities beyond marketing. With the support of Catholic Healthcare and my manager, I started volunteering at the Sydney Story Factory in Redfern. The experience ignited my passion for helping others. I also did some volunteering at Catholic Healthcare’s Waterloo Wellness Centre.
“My time at the Wellness Centre made me realise I really want to do social work. I know I will be fulfilled working directly with people, this is what I enjoy, and the path I would like to pursue for my career.”
Bonnie started her new position in September based in the South East Sydney region of Sydney, visiting clients at-home and in the Wellness Centre. She will start studying social work at University next year.
“Working at Catholic Healthcare gave me volunteering opportunities to help me find the career that really works for me. It’s a big career change but I feel supported to do it.
“Once qualified in social work I would like to work in the area of promoting social change. I will see where my studies take me but I hope to continue working with vulnerable people in the community.”
